How NOT to job hunt : The Work Buzz
Phone interviews can be very intimidating. You cannot see the interviewer, and they cannot see you. Therefore, you may be under the impression that you can get away with certain things during the interview, such as using the bathroom or walking your dog. WRONG! In an interesting article published by the Chicago Tribune, employers stated that some of phone interviewees have been caught going to the bathroom, sitting on a bus, eating food and more.
Career experts stress that a phone interview is just as important as an in-person interview. The phone interview is just one more hurdle you need to conquer before the face to face time. Would you send an employer a copy of your resume that had the ring of a coffee mug on it? Hopefully not. So why risk the phone interview by crunching on a bag of chips, or adding the soundtrack of a flushing toilet in the background?
Before the hour of your phone interview aproaches, eat something. Walk your dog, run your errands, use the bathroom. Identify a location in your home that is quiet and will ensure that the interview will not be interrupted. A bedroom is a good place to start. Any quiet room with a door would be preferable, even a closet would do. And if you have to go to the bathroom during the conversation....hold it.

NACE (@NACEOrg) - Top Skills for Job Candidates
There are so many skills needed to be successful in the workforce. NACE, the National Association for Colleges and Employers has been the leading source of information for college graduates and employers. Recently, NACE surveyed employers to find out what skills they value most in college graduates.
The top five skills were:
1. Verbal Communication Skills
2. Strong Work Ethic
3. Teamwork Skills
4. Analytical Skills
5. Taking the Initiative
Communication skills ranked as the most important "soft skill" a new college grad could posses. A strong GPA and knowledge base in a certain field with hands on experience in that field is very important. However, if you cannot communicate your ideas, thoughts, knowledge and skills, then you might have a hard time connecting with an employer. Use the time before graduation to brush up on the skills listed above. Coupled with hands on experience like an internship or volunteering, the skills above should help you fit right into the workforce.
