The holiday season is a great way to reconnect with friends and family. Thanksgiving Eve is known as a night for students in college to come back to their hometowns and catch up with friends from high school. It can be fun to see people you haven’t talked to in awhile, and share stories about your lives. However, Thanksgiving Eve can be more than just swapping tales about college with old buddies. It can be a great way to network and let people know what type of work in which you are interested.
In between chatting with old pals, tell them where you are in your job searching process and what you hope to accomplish during your time in college and beyond. If you are searching for an internship, let them know and ask if they might know of someone in that particular field. They might have a contact in mind that you can get in touch with and start a networking relationship.
Before you head out on Thanksgiving Eve, prepare a few sentences in your head that quickly describes where you are right now and what you hope to accomplish. Just talking to a few people and letting them know what you are up to can be a good way to get your name out there and express your interest in a particular field. If you have a business card, don’t hesitate to hand it out and ask for cards from others as well. Follow up within the next few days to remind them about your goals and aspirations and ask if they would be willing to keep the lines of communication open.
Have a great time catching up with your hometown friends, but make it a productive and worthwhile night that will enhance your professional career!

What a great idea!
This is a great networking tip for students who may be intimidated my "traditional" networking.
On Thanksgiving Eve, you can network and catch up with old friends.
It's a win-win!
