Step Out of Your Comfort Zone

It’s nice to have a familiar routine that you are comfortable with and that you can count on. However, when thinking about job hunting, that might not be the best idea. It can be helpful for you to explore other options and check out new ideas that you might initially not be into. Push the envelope and try something new. Maybe it’s something you have always wanted to try but were too shy to attempt. Whatever it might be, go for it and learn from the experience. You might be surprised by what you find! Ask a friend to join and make the new experience something fun to do together.

Take a class, or start learning a new hobby or trade. Whatever it may be, make it something that will be interesting and worthwhile. You can speak about it in an interview and use skills acquired toward your search for the perfect career. In addition, telling a prospective employer about how you stepped outside the box and learned something new can show that you are willing to go the extra mile to keep improving and that you are interested in staying sharp and focused.

Do some research and make a list of something new to try. There is nothing to lose by trying and the experience gained will make it well worth your time.
